UMR 208 "Local heritage, environment and globalization" is a multidisciplinary mixed research unit (UMR) under the supervision of the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement and the Musée national d'Histoire naturelle, whose main location is located at the Jardin des Plantes in Paris.

L´UMR PALOC is organized into three major scientific themes and includes transversal activities, conceptual and methodological deepening, based on activities of animation, teaching and research training. L´unité brings together 39 researchers and teacher-researchers, 7 ITA, 13 doctoral students and 2 post-doctoral fellows under contract. It also includes about forty associate members. L´UMR is present on all continents and works in partnership in both the South and the North.
